Protesters Gather in Stockholm to Condemn Israel, US Actions

(MENAFN) Crowds gathered on Wednesday in Sweden’s capital during the customary Nobel banquet following the award presentation to voice their opposition to Israel and the United States.

Demonstrators convened outside Stockholm City Hall, where King Carl XVI Gustaf hosted the banquet, to protest Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip over the past two years and the US’s preparations for potential military action against Venezuela.

Participants raised slogans including “Stop the genocide in Gaza” and “Hands off Venezuela.”
Arguing that the Nobel Prizes are financially supported by the US, protesters criticized both Washington and the European Union for backing Israel.

Waving Palestinian flags, the demonstrators also opposed the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize being granted to Venezuelan opposition figure Maria Corina Machado, highlighting her known support for Israel.

In a statement, the group characterized Machado as a figure who dedicated her award to US President Donald Trump, endorsed American military intervention plans in Venezuela, and received congratulations from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
